Deepro's tension anchors are ETA-certified at system level based on European Assessment Documents (EAD). On this page, you will find an explanation of the applicable standards and certificates, plus the ETA certificate available for download.
Why certifications are important
An earth anchor rarely fails due to a single component, but rather to the weakest link in the interplay of strand, anchor head, duct, seals, and grout. Only a system-level assessment provides the certainty that all parts perform together under load, in an aggressive environment, and over the entire design life.
For strand anchors in earth-retaining structures, the following frameworks apply in the Netherlands and Belgium:
EAD 160071-00-0102 (2019) – European assessment document for ground anchors, basis for the ETA- ETA – European Technical Assessment per manufacturer and system
- NEN-EN 1537 (2013) – Execution of ground anchors
- NEN-EN 1537 (1999) Appendix A – Measurement system for electrical insulation of the anchor
- EN 10138 – Steel for the pre-stressing of concrete (strands, wires, bars)
- Eurocode 7 / NEN 9997 – Geotechnical Design
Only when an anchoring system demonstrably meets all these frameworks can it be responsibly used in permanent civil structures.

Reliability with Deepro

Our anchors hold a European Technical Assessment (ETA) under AVCP System 1+, the highest conformity level for construction products, and are supplied with CE marking and accompanying Declaration of Performance (DoP) for use in national, regional, and municipal projects.

EAD 160071-00-0102 (2019) – Ground Anchors
The European Assessment Document (EAD) is the assessment framework drawn up by EOTA for construction products for which there is no harmonised product standard. For ground anchors, this is EAD 160071-00-0102, in the 2019 version.
The EAD describes which performance characteristics are assessed – capacity, creep behaviour, corrosion protection, electrical insulation, service life – and how these are measured and proven. Based on the EAD, a Technical Assessment Body (TAB) issues an ETA per manufacturer and system. The EAD itself is not available for download by the end-user but is available via EOTA and the TAB for substantive verification.
ETA – European Technical Assessment
The European Technical Assessment (ETA) is the certificate that records the performance of the Deepro / BBR strand anchor system. The ETA has been issued based on EAD 160071-00-0102 and is valid for performance classes PL0, PL1, PL2, and PL3 – including the electrically insulated version in PL3.
The ETA includes, among other things: the composition of the system, the permissible loads, the corrosion protection classes, and the requirements for execution and quality control. The ETA is therefore the most important document for designers and clients in verifying whether the anchoring system meets project requirements.

The ETA covers the entire system. Below is a brief description of the role of each product component within the certification.

Electrically insulated strand anchor (PL3)
First and only in Europe with ETA-certified, electrically insulated strand anchor. Complete electrical separation between prestressing steel and earth-retaining structure.

Sleeve and gland fittings

Grout accessories
Components for a controlled grout build-up around the anchored length, in accordance with the execution requirements in the ETA and NEN-EN 1537.
Frequently asked questions about certificates and standards
What is the difference between an EAD and an ETA?
An EAD (European Assessment Document) is the assessment framework: it describes how a type of construction product should be assessed. An ETA (European Technical Assessment) is the result: a certificate showing that a specific system from a specific manufacturer complies with that framework. For ground anchors, EAD 160071-00-0102 forms the basis for the ETA from Deepro / BBR.
For which performance classes does the ETA from Deepro apply?
The ETA covers PL0, PL1, PL2 and PL3 for the anchoring system. PL3 is the only version that is ETA-certified as electrically insulated. Deepro is currently the only company in Europe to supply this combination.
Why are the NEN-EN 1537 standards not available for free download?
NEN-EN 1537 is protected by copyright and is published by NEN (Netherlands) and CEN (Europe). Distribution outside of these channels is not permitted. The standard can be purchased via NEN or CEN by those who wish to use it in projects.
How do NEN-EN 1537 (2013) and (1999) Appendix A relate to each other?
The 2013 version is the current European standard for the execution and testing of ground anchors. However, this version does not contain a procedure for measuring electrical insulation. For this, Annex A of the 1999 version, which does describe this measurement methodology, is used. For the electrically insulated PL3 anchor, both versions are therefore complementary: the 2013 version for execution and testing, and the 1999 Annex A for insulation measurement.
Does the system comply with Eurocode 7 / NEN 9997?
Eurocode 7 (The Netherlands: NEN 9997) governs geotechnical design, not the anchor product itself. The Deepro anchor system is incorporated into a Eurocode 7-compliant design based on its ETA performance and load testing according to NEN-EN 1537.
Can Deepro provide support with verification of project requirements?
Yes. Deepro supports clients and engineering firms in the design process with the substantiation that the system meets project-specific certification requirements. For execution, the anchor is supplied to the drilling companies that handle the installation.
